Studio 229
Studio 229 is the graphic design studio for UCR and Rotherham College. I was tasked with developing their brand identity as well as creating a range of elements to help promote the studio. The new identity needed to be both flexible and contemporary, with a focus on reflecting what graphic design is.
The new identity utilises a dynamic logo system which allows the user to create unique symbols based on a series of defined variables: shape, scale, balance and colour. The brand master logo (above) represents proficiency and knowledge in all key areas of design by fully utilising all elements of the grid, subsequently communicating the studios ability to understand, interpret and unify the given variables.
Grid System
The shape development grid is divided into four individual segments, each housing a specific variable. The chosen variables represent key elements of design, and allow the user to determine the volume of each variable used in any given body of work. Individual symbols which are realised through this system can be used to represent specific subject areas or design disciplines which are covered throughout Studio 229's design course's.
